I have a 64 sport fury convertible, at least the body is. Oregon state police inspected the car and came up the vin number from the frame. previous owner had removed the tag from the door to paint ( wrong thing to do). the door tag vin 3441xxxxxx = 1964 sport fury. But the frame number they found and appointed to me is 4105200260.
I have tried many web sites & decoders and the 4105200260 just does not make sense.
the 3rd digit is the year but in 1960 they did not use 4 has the first digit.

Any Thoughts?
Dan

Hmm,
I'd hang on a bit before assuming the State Police are correct, on this one at least.
NO DIS-RESPECT TO ANY STATE/LOCAL POLICE OFFICER.

That "4" on the beginning of the frame # makes me think THAT is the year...

I can check my 63 Polara this afternoon.
Where is the Frame Vin so I can check for you?

PS: You can always ask "sleepar"...but he charges money for an answer.

I could be wrong, but I believe only the SO number is in the hidden areas on the body. The VIN only appears on the VIN tag, as far as I know. The VIN isn't even on the fender tag, but the SO number is - which should match the body numbers. I don't think the VIN numbers appear on the body until the '68 cars.

thanks man , you owe me a keyboard

they will not tell anyone the location on the frame. from what I have learned the third digit is the year. 62-65 Plymouth never start with 4 and Chrysler/ Dodge never start with a 3. all 1964 sport fury's begin 344: 3= v8 4=model 4= 1964. does anyone know if the (secret) Frame number and the Vin are the same?

One place is under the package tray - but it's the SO number, not the VIN. I'm pretty sure there's no VIN on a '64 other than on the VIN tag. The SO number on the package tray should match the fender tag, though.

hey : F Y I I have cut up and disassembled 2 65 coronets and the only numbers i have found are part numbers stamped on all the pieces not even close to vin , or Sequience number
