So I don't want to mount a crazy CD player in my car, and I'm certainly not taking out the factory AM radio.

Are there any good sources you can recommend for a CD/MP3 radio that mounts somewhere out of the way but is still accessible? Or looks original and goes in that spot? I'm keeping the original, for sure, so either option would work aesthetically.

I've googled it and the sites I could find weren't very informative.

Mainly I want to use my iPod, or the occasional CD, maybe have a readout/lens sort of thing subtly sitting on the column or below the original AM radio, but one I could hide out of sight for car shows (yeah... someday). So not installed permanently, per se. Moveable. Is that possible?

Thanks!

Secret Audio. I've installed several and they work well. It's an AM/FM radio that has an optional CD changer. All hides under your seat, in the trunk, whatever. Has an RF remote so no need for the display to be visible

i also recommend the secret audio i had one in my barracuda and i'm soon puttin one in my roadrunner, it's well worth the money.

I just put Secret Audio in the Road Clone and I love it. Didn't have to put a CD player in, just loaded a flash drive with about 900 songs and hear we go.

I put an amp under my package tray and hooked it up to two 6 x 9 speakers, also mounted to the package tray. I ran an rca cable from the amp to the front seat. The cable is an RCA on one end and a headphone plug on the other. With the amp, the speakers and the cable, I plug my iPhone into the headphone end. This gives me my whole library of music in the car.

It also leaves the factory AM unit in the dash with the 4 x 10 speaker so I can listen to the Milwaukee Brewers.

A two channel or four channel amp works fine. A four channel is also handy if you want to add speakers up front some day.

It takes an afternoon to install and is pretty cheap if you can can find a decent amp on ebay or something. The only thing that you can see from the whole system is the headphone plug up front where the iPhone or iPod or whatever plugs in. The rest is pretty well hidden.

Almost forgot, I added a switch that is under the dash. It controls the remote wire for the switch. So, if I do not want the amp on when the car is running, I can switch the amp off.

That is what I did.

The wire I used:
