I have a complete white interior that I want to dye.My question what would be a good long lasting vinyl dye.I want to dye it from white to black.Years ago I dyed stuff I used dye from a automotive paint store that you spray with a paint gun.My Buddy swears by Duplicolor dye in a spray can.Anyone have any suggestions? My white interior is only 5 years old and is Legendaryary auto interior.Or maybe I should just sell it and buy new?

Thanks,jim

Apparently your Buddy hasn't tried SEM, I used to like Duplicolor till I tried SEM, Now I will be the first to proclaim "Duplicolor Sucks In My Opinion".

I use SEM on ALL the restorations I do when a dye job is necessary. It goes on Good and looks GREAT, It also holds up on seats too !

They have about 3 different colors of Black, ....the "Landau Black" looks so original in a old Chrysler product you can't tell it's dyed ! (If your good with a spray bomb),

SEM also makes a Pre-Cleaner and an Adhesion Promoter. I know Eastwood carries a full line of SEM products.

Dupont makes a good vinyl dye. Comes ready to spray just poor it in your gun. The also make a plastic and vinyl cleaner to use first. Not the cheapest, but has worked well for me.

don't mean to jack the thread but how well does vinyl dye really stand up? I would love to do that since i don't have the money to get new but i don't want to waste my money on something that's just going to wear off and look dumber then it did in the first place. Anybody have any pics of interiors they've dyed?

I've used the SEM on dash pads, arm rests, carpet, door panels and kick panels in the past. The stuff works great. I have had no issues thus far.

I am also restoring my 66 charger vinyl. I am looking for the Pearl White finish. Does anyone know where I can get the Pearl White finish? I do not need it in a spray can. I do have pearl additives but was wondering if anyone new where to get the color..

Thanks,

SEM is great stuff, to me the industry leader in vinyl/plastic coatings. I have used Duplicolor and plastiKote before, it don't even compare, only lasted a couple of months. SEM is also available in quart cans, and is ready to spray.
As far as durability, back around 7-8 years ago I took a set of nice thick rubber floor mats out of a trade in we got. They were tan. I scrubbed them, sprayed them with SEM graphite out of a spray can and threw them in my truck. Today They look as good as the day I sprayed them. Great stuff.

SEM is second to none in my opinion.

Where can I get a white Pearl dye?

I would check with SEM, They have a bunch of colors, I know they have 3 colors of Black so I would imagine they have several Whites as well.

Thanks for telling me about SEM last night I will get some and redye my interior to black.

I use the "Landau Black", .....It's PERFECT for Chrysler Products,......It's not too Glossy and not too Flat, ......It doesn't have a dyed look to it,...it looks like factory Black parts,......but, It works and looks much better when sprayed at a temperature of 85 degrees or higher and when the Humidity is Fairly Low.

SEM is the best money can buy. Ever try to get a Cordovan brown top for a 73 Charger or anything but black and white? My Cordovan brown top was black and a fried gave me enough gold leather to make my Light tan and Cordovan brown seat covers.

What shade of white would you recommend from SEM? They have a bunch and I want it to look like its new from the factory not yellowed.

I recently got some vinyl dye from Herbs and I am very happy with the results.
Regards,

Thanks for the dye info. I have the citris Gold door panels in my 66 Charger with 46 years of fading! sounds like a plan

I would suggest calling Eastwood and getting their feedback to the ptoper white that you need.

I just got a new interior from Legendary for wife's 66 Satellite,QQ1. They recommend Color Correct out of N.Y, That's who does their pigments.Haven't used it yet on dash pad. Not cheap, will update when we do it.
