Car is pictured.... It's a street/strip car that is being used more and more at the track in recent years. This year I have plans to race more than ever and will be participating in my local tracks points series for the first time. In years past I have just paid for a local track competition number and chalked it on. This year I have finally have an NHRA competition number. I'm trying to decide if I should just continue chalking on my NHRA number, or if I should have vinyl numbers made.

Part of me likes the "streetcar" look, but another side of me wants to look the part of a serious racer and have color-coordinated vinyl numbers on the car. I would have yellow numbers with silver shadowing done to match the car.

Please vote in the poll above.

I understand but have no answer.
If that helps you.

Don't know about laws around your area. Some states will ticket with anything on the windows while driving on the street. If you do both types of driving. If not a issue vinyl looks professional .

I am aware of this, but I really don't do much street driving with it, few hundred miles a year maybe. When I am on the street, the windows are always down, so the only thing to consider would be the windshield. I see stuff across the top of people's windshields all the time. Not too worried about it.

Congratulations on the NHRA! First thing that came to mind was etching the glass. I will prob catch hell for saying that, but im also a fan of tattoos.

LW, Years ago as kids and weekend racers, the cops would sit outside the gate and nail anyone that didn't clean writing off.It was a PA. law back then. I still think vinyl looks better for your permanent NHRA number.

I am unprofessional, so I vote liquid chalk.

I didn't vote there wasn't a shoe polish selection :poke:

Vinyl for the Comp. #'s
if it's a dedicated bracket-race car, a placard with changeable #'s for dial-ins
or Vinyl leave off the last # & use shoe polish
would maybe look more professional

We thought we were pretty cool scooping the loop with our dial ins on the windows back in the day. You could make some static cling #so and put them on the inside of the windows.

If you write your dial in, etc on your windows at the track don't use liquid shoe polish...it is a bitch to wipe off. Order from Summit the liquid easy wipe off product. Cost about 4 bucks and last all season

I just peeled all the white block letters from mine. The wife bought a vinyl cutting machine. Time to come up with something fancier. we'll see soon.
