Vinyl top installation question

I am going to install the top on my 66 coronet. I have removed all the glass and chrome etc before painting. Now comes the install. The question is the factory top had a million staples holding the front and rear down at the roof where the glass lays. What did you guys do instead of those staples?

I didn’t use any. Pulled the trim clips and installed the vinyl down behind them. When reinstalled they help hold the vinyl like the staples did.

I had a buddy of mine install the new vinyl top on my Newport and the front and rear glass had clips. Not sure bout a B-body though.

I just recently did my vinyl top on the Road Runner.I did notice that there was a staple in each corner of the window frame. I did not reinstall them ,I just glued them down
