I have my '67 coronet 2d HT at the paint & body shop for resto. The car originally came with a black vinyl top. Not sure if I am going back with a top. If I don't, how do I keep the water from coming in through the holes for the
chrome trim at the base of the roof? Or would that be to hard to prevent? I have had mixed comments about the top. Some say it is necessary because the factory didn't finish the roofs as well for the cars predestined for vinyl tops. I have had others say that the vinyl tops will trap moisture and eventually rust underneath, but I dont want any water leaking back into the car. Any advice would be appreciated. Kym

If you're not putting the top back on,weld the holes up finish the top!the tops on those cars weren't painted the only difference! No seams on the b pillars like the 68 and later ones.

66/67 uses that trim whether the car has a vinyl top or not.
The bonus is that you can add or reomve a vinyl top at any time.

DO NOT weld the holes. Use the trim.

This is a possible stress area and will likely crack if filled in.
Plus it looks funny.

Look at some pics of other 66/67 cars and you'll see what I mean.

That trim covers the seam between the roof and the quarter.
No filler was used from the factory in that area.
