One of the reasons that vertical video annoys me is that the people that record it are doing a substandard job when it is so easy to get it right.
It is laziness. It is a lack of appreciation for doing the job right. It is settling for a lower quality experience because you're too lazy to do it right.
Do you torque the head bolts with a box end wrench? You could. The engine will run but the gasket will fail sooner than if you did it right.
Do you skip wiping your butt after toilet time? You'll take a shower later so what is the point of using paper now?

I think it just boils down to basic laziness. Everyone handles a cell phone with one hand normally,
in the vertical - but in order to be able to see the screen and hold one horizontally, it's a two-handed
affair typically.
I'm totally with Greg on all this by the way - just maybe not to the same extent.

We have had our local TV stations asking people to hold their phones in horizontal if they intend sending video in from incidents to show on TV.
Do people listen? ...do they heck. Ed hit the nail on the head.....it's down to basic laziness. The tik-tokkers are just weirdo's making it worse.
