Im confused on the correct part numbers for the washer reservoir assembly. It lists 3431691 w/o speed control and 3431965 w/speed control. Is the speed control in reference to the wipers/motor or cruise control? I've seen it stated as cruise... What does the washer have to do with cruise control?

Im also curious as to why my washer tank doesn't have either number on it. Mine says 3431670... Is that an older number that was superseded?

Thanks.

makes reference to the cruise control. Cruise control cars gets the washer reservoir on inner passenger side while non cruise controls got them on driver side.

Talking about PNs, the catalog PNs are not allways the same ones casted on parts. Catalog PNs used to be called SERVICE PART NUMBERS since they offer a full assembly PN

Okay. I get it kinda but not really..

That is exactly what makes it confusing.. The catalog says 3431691 is the reservoir package.

BUT yet it lists 3431672 as the cover for the reservoir...

My washer assembly lists in sequential order...

3431670 ASSEMBLY
3431671 Reservoir
3431672 Cover

I haven't seen a 3431691 up close but I'd be willing to bet it says...

3431690 ASSEMBLY
3431691 Reservoir
3431692 Cover

If you go to MOPARMALL website this is what it says...

New, show-quality windshield washer set for all 1973-74 Plymouth RoadRunner - Satellite and Dodge Charger - Coronet. Includes genuine MoPar reservoir (with correct logos and letting molded-in), electric fluid pump, tee and correct ribbed hoses. OE p/n's 3431670 - 3431671 - 3431672

Right there they say...
OE p/n's 3431670 - 3431671 - 3431672

So my understanding is that 3431670 is original but yet its not in the catalog I'm looking at... Either it was omitted or something...

Sorry if im overanylizing this... I just want to clarify what seems to be contradicting info.

Its more about the part number for him I think. But yea i was going to get one for the 69 Road Runner but decided gas stations have squeegees. I guess Im too cheap. lol

I still think is a service PN what doesn't mean will match the casting PNs

BeepBeepRR has it partially right... It is about part numbers for the sake of originality... I like the idea of what came on the car to be replaced with the same thing IF POSSIBLE... BUT... the on the flip side the other part of the problem is more so to figure out what the heck is INTERCHANGEABLE...

In this case the washer reservoir isnt too complicated... Not trying to get off on a different subject but lets take the BRAKE BOOSTER for example. I cant pull a number from mine since its rusty. The parts book says the number should be #3579272. I google it and I get a gold colored booster. Was mine originally GOLD? Ive seen it stated that they were BLACK? The problem ends up being that mopar had multiple numbers for the same/similar parts that I dont even know what's what anymore. That is where my confusion lies.

Bendix units were black, Midland Ross were gold
Did they use both on the 74? Did one on the assembly line get a bendix and the one right behind it get a midland ross?

On the brake booster, I would check places on it that were not exposed to climate. Like where the master bolts up and or the back part that mounts to the firewall. That would tell you if it was black or goldish. If there is black paint behind or between chances are it was black.

When cruise is installed, it goes where the reservoir would normally sit. That being the case Chysler put the res on the other side. Mine has cruise and the other bottle.
You can see the bottle on passenger side.

Gotcha. I'll check the booster. Thanks for the pic ODZking. Was there a difference in the reservoir pump?

Bob, there is two diff pumps to CC and non CC... the difference is just the outlet tee indexing.

Can be interchanged thought

Happy to take some but easily described. The hose comes from the hood somewhere in the center anyway, routes down through the the hole on side of the wiper motor I believe. Then thru 2/3 loop holders on the firewall. Then makes a turn under the blower motor and runs along the inner fender through those loops. I will get a few routing shots for you tomorrow and post them.

This for 74 which only changes on the last section up to nozzles since 73 are hood mounted and 74 are wiper arm mounted

The conector down the hood is diff too, being Y shaped instead the T shaped from earliers
