Water pump 440

1. Is there any reason I can't use an aluminum mopar perf. water pump in a cast housing or is that a no no. Will be running an aluminum rad.
2. Also what mechanical fuel pump is the best for all around street/strip use? I'm running 870 Holley vac. carb.
3. Is anyone running the mini starter from Schumacher Creative services? I'm using their headers. Wonder if it's a good unit or not.

My motor is 9.5 compression. Should make around 450 h.p. on premium pump gas.

1. You can use the aluminum water pump with your cast housing.
2. Carter, Edelbrock, Summitt etc. They all have about 6.5 PSI
3. In my opinion? the BEST Mini Starter for MOPAR is the DENSO Remember: Denso is Toyota, great reliability, longevity

Still have a gasket between the pump & housing, so no problem.

The only issue I have seen is some times the aluminum pump is slightly deeper impellers and sometimes depending on the cast housing it will rub in the housing, breaking impellers... So check clearances more than once and verify its clear..

If you ever go junk yarding, keep your eye open for new looking starter. They are much cheaper for sure.....

Hi d fark! I'm running a mini starter on my 440. I've had great luck with it for 9 years now. It was built by a guy named Jim Arco. He builds racing starters and alternators. Mine cost $99 back then - I think he's up to about $110 now, but call him and talk. His number is 708-422-2976. He's just outside of Chicago, so shipping to you won't break the bank. I bought two of the starters back then, figuring I'd fry one, but the price was cheap enough that I could afford two. Like I said, the other one is still in the box.
