Would a Hemi pump housing have a different number on it than any other big block of the same year?

yes, except for the years 1970 and 1971, those were the same as 383's and 440's

The HEMI housing is the same as the early engines with the casting number ending in 007. They also used the early water neck. Can't comment on the 70/70 stuff.

he is correct, I just glanced and did not differentiate between the actual numbers, but just looked at the separate engine displacements. Here is a copy of the "book"
