I’ve been shaking down the 67 R/T since it’s complete rebirth late last fall. One thing I was fighting over the last two weeks is a steady increase of engine heat to the point of boil over. Long story short I’m fairly certain the radiator wasn’t flowing and that’s where my issue is. During the process I pulled the aftermarket water pump and noticed that the impeller was small when I compared it to the original. Again, fairly sure this was the OE pump to the car. The OE pump has a 10 blade impeller and looks like it was milled to fit the housing. I wanted to make sure I had eliminated every possible potential issue. I contacted Arthur Gould Rebuilders to get a quote and see what turn around time was. I’m also in a crunch to get the car cooling for this coming weekend, NSRA meet in York.
I sent them my original pump last Monday and it showed up in the mail today. Can’t believe how quick they turned it around. Basically with the holiday they had the pump done in 1 day. Car is all back together and detailed again, started it and let it run for about 20 minutes. Have to wait until tomorrow (rain) for a drive to see if I’m all fixed back up.
Anyway, if you need an OE pump rebuilt these guys are my go to now. Oh, and $113 shipped back to me and we kept the original 10 blade impeller. How can you beat that? No pictures, I was in a hurry to get the pump painted and get the car back together.
