Just had radiator recored and cleaned. Tested for leaks, all good. Reinstalled and noticed smoking from water pump area, what would the reason be? I only notice the smoke after car has been shut off and it is very subtle. What symptoms would show for a bad water pump?

Could be steam instead of smoke. Is the remants of the spilled water just steaming off with the heat of the engine?
If the pump is bad, you should see Water dripping from the weep hole. Pressurize the radiator and visually look for water (antifreeze) drips with the engine off.
You'll see if it's a hose clamp or whatever.

I concur....if there is seepage or a stream of coolant emanating from the water pump's weep hole, its indication that the mechanical shaft seal is failing......the fix....replace the pump b4 total failure and leaves you stranded. Just my opinion of course.

Could be some coolant that was leaked out at refilling? What temp did the engine get up to when you saw the vapor? Doesn't take much for any water/coolant to vapor off if some got on the pump or part of the engine.....

Leaky hose, only manifests itself under pressure after running. My wild-assed guess.
