Well bought or Overpaid?

I was watching this listing on ebay.

At the starting bid of $149.00 I was kinda interested as my dash pad is TOAST. I knew I'd have to dye it.

As the poll says, do you think it was well bought or overpaid for that condition?

Sold for $195.00 shipped.

Considering reproduction dash pads are 600+ I'd say well bought. Even with repairs you're coming out ahead.

You have to ask this question - Can I make one myself, or buy a new unit/repop for less money?
After looking at the answer....it becomes obvious what to do.

That's a steal! I would of comfortabley bid to $400 if I needed it as the repops are $5-600 something like that

I would say too much. Cracked is cracked, which means it's got to be repaired, so it really doesn't matter whether you send off a core from a junkyard you paid $40 for, or the cracked one from your car, or this one, the cost to recover it is going to be the same. And my experience has been is when it comes to pads, a few cracks is the same as a small slit on a seat cover. Once this old vinyl starts to go, it ain't gonna stop. You could go in one night with two small cracks and come out the next day and see ten more have formed over night.

The only opinion that matters is the one from who ever bought it. He either feels good about his purchase or he doesn't. Every body has an opinion but as I said only one counts. And never ask questions after the deed is done. Too late then.

Wait I didn't see it had a crack I saw two small holes but no crack . If that's the case to much it's as good as junk one crack or many a dash cap will fix them all or if your that **** the new ones your ticket

actually it does make a difference on condition well depends on how you approach the dash repair sure you can get a core and swap it over for another at full price or normally what i do is i do the repairs to it then take it to place of choice to be vacuum formed which saves a whole lot of money so the less damage to the dash in the first place gives you an easier repair job and less cost all up

The problem with these is the repair part of the equation. Old vinyl is dying. You can spend $$$ getting some cuts or cracks fixed only to find more have started days later. Once it's reached a point where it's starting to crack, it needs to be replaced. Same deal with seat covers. Once they start to go, there's no stopping the problems.

once the dash is vacuum formed the new vinyl on top is like a hard shell the dash will no longer crack that's why most companies ask for a core because that's what your getting back a repaired crash pad .seats on the over hand are different once vinyl cracks i agree replace
