man, took the charger out last night for the first time, I knew better, buy I didnt listen to myself.. blew the head gasket in downtown gatlingurg, in rush hour, hope the motor is still good

If you were able to shut it off before overheating could be fine. Good luck.

Nope overheated, was boiling water in the reservoir

A possible plus having coolant yet; had an overheat during a 300 mile trip on the freeway...no coolant left in rad anyway and temp gauge maxed. Fortunately motor was fine having shut it down soon as saw that and could pull off in a decent spot. No damage; but did find I had to replace the manifold gaskets...think one needed it anyway as I can recall.

Well good news, no oil in water, and no water in oil! It was hot, but might have dodged a bullit, gonna go through cooling system

it is a blown head gasket, but caught early

How do you know it's a head gasket? Is it apart?
Doug

not yet, pressure on cooling system was extremely high, coolant bubbling in reservoir tank, point to head gasket leak on compression side, at least thats my thought

Thread title. That’s my Line.

What would hydro-lock have to do with freeze plugs?
Doug

Freeze plugs are good, doing dye test this week end, but appears it is leaking on the compression side

Had a electric fan quit me. Put on new head gaskets and in about 2,000 miles it started smoking. I was able to do rings and rod bearings without having to pull the motor.

well, done the dye test, not a head gasket , either a bad radiator cap, radiator, or something else causing over heating in traffic, i do have a clutch fan and a pusher fan
