So I got the correct sparkplugs in, the correct gap, after a year of tinkering, started it up, and poof. :angryfire: The dash wires burned up. Talk about some bad luck. So im gonna take some time to go over the body now, but man, I wanna throw my biggest wrench at it right now. lol

My 70 Bee used to catch on fire either under the hood or under the dash, about once every other month.

Never bad enough that it couldn't be fixed on the side of the road with test leads or splices, but usually when I was on a date!!

Earned it the nickname "Milenium Falcon".

Sucks for sure, but coulda been worse, coulda burnt the car to the ground.

If it makes you feel any better, ALL of my projects (3) are pretty much on hold now. My last day at the shop was today and my wife lost her job on Valentine's day. So, the damper has been shut.

Redshadow, that has to suck. Did you find out what caused it? Just old wires or was there hot circuit power surge.?

Rusty, that has to be a big bummer. I hope you and your wife get back on your feet soon.

that sucks buddy, i should come to states for a visit and help you finish them.haha

What kind of car is it? I have a pile of dash wiring harnesses in the attic of our shop.

Lol it was the wire to power the guages. Strange thing was the fuse didint blow on it. But oh well i did just make sure nothing but the ignition was in and got to ride around the block a little. So i am happy. And that sucks rusty, my mom and stepdad just both had that happen and they moved to atlanta for better opportunitys. I hope everything ends up okay and well for yall too. I could of never got my project this far without you guys. Thank you all

I would suggest also... Check your main firewall bulkhead connections also, they are extremely prone to corrosion or melting shorting/burning problems too, clean each individual connection both side "very well" {small brass wire brush, pipe cleaners & electronics spray cleaners work well} & apply a little dab of dielectric grease on all connections, it's cheap insurance, be careful taking them apart, be patient, go slow they can be brittle at times, because they have been exposed to weather & under-hood heat for years.... there's a good tech electrical fixes for our Mopar's & the Amp gauges/Wiring & bulkhead problems article @ www.madelectical.com.... I hope all goes well...

Agree, the bulkhead connector and ammeter are the biggest problems. If not going the stock route it's best to do away with both and go with a voltmeter. Hate hearing about you guys luck, hopefully things will shape up soon.
