Anyone have a temp sensor installed in their 727? would it measure fluid temp or just trans overall temp? Were does it install?

I just bought a new B&M aluminum trans pan.I was pleasantly surprised to find a tapped hole in the side of the pan for a temp gauge.stailess allen head bolds, billet spacer with harware and cork gasket.Guess I'm getting another gauge:blob1:

Is that not the drain plug?

If it's on the side of the pan that would be for the temp gauge. That lets the thermocouple for the gauge stay immersed completely in ATF, maintaining an accurate reading.

So after market pan with pre drilled hole and plug for sensor sounds like the easiest option, but keeping with stock the only way would be to plumb it in the out line to the radiator cooler?

I have some type of aftermarket pan on mine with a bung already in the side for the temp sensor.

Realistically, there ar only 2 options. Plumb it in the outlet line or in the side of the pan. If you plumb it in the line, keep as close to the trans as you can- gives the most accurate temp reading. JMHO
