Painting the inside of doors on my 66 Satellite and I'm not sure what to use. The car is not a correct restoration but I wanted something as close to original as possible on the interior. Any help is appreciated.
I assuming you are referring to the upper and lower portions of the door that are visible? It would be a gloss finish. As for color...that depends on what color you are going with.
My `66 Belvedere was easy, as it has an all black interior.
I used PaintScratch BB-1 loaded into a spray can for my 67 GTX and specified single stage paint as I was not going to clear coat it. Cars in that era were painted in single stage paint, in and out. Made it pretty easy and a 12 ounce spray can was about $25 shipped.
When researching paint, I found that black was pretty much black in many years even across manufacturers, especially in the single stage paint era. It had a lot of different names, but many years Mopar black, GM black and Ford black were the exact same paint manufacturer paint code. This is not at all true with colors. Single stage paint predated metallics and pearls.
The paint from Herbs referenced above is for soft interior trim. I have used SEM landau black for in a spray can for plastic consoles, kick panels etc. with good results as long as you use a cleaner and adhesion promoter. It is not a shiney gloss black and is real close to the original color for these.
