What color for steering column?

I am restoring a steering column for my 69 RR with black interior. I ended up getting a flaming river stainless steering column with the natural finish so i could paint it to look as factory apearing as possible. What is the finish on a black steering column from the factory? (Gloss, semi gloss, flat, or wrinkle black)? Thanks, Bret

I painted mine semi gloss black. Thats what it looked like when I rebuilt it. 68 RR. I'm pretty sure 69 would be the same.
