what do you guys think about this radiator setup

I think it's somewhat overkill from what I've read about your combination, but nuthin wrong with some overkill in the coolin department.

No mention of how big the tubes are but it being a 4 row, I'm sure they are small. IMO, large tube radiators cool better. I just dropped in a single row large tube radiator in my Dakota and it's never ran as cool as it does now and know several who use a 2 row large tube rad and they do very well. Also, by the time the air gets to the 4th row, it's too hot for it to do much good so the 4th row is not doing much good anyways.

Ya I'm sure its overkill for now but figured it would be all I will ever need if I go for more later. That way I'm not upgrading again I think they have the same setup that is 3 row for like 100.00 less

There's lots of info on the net about radiator technology and it talks about large tube radiators vs small tube etc. Might start doing some reading before spending 400 bucks....

$460.00 bucks

When I put the big block in my Coronet I had the 318 radiator recored adding a row and then went to the little parts store in town and the guy found me formed hoses to fit my application. Both upper and lower. I have a factory shroud. I think I was around $350.00 all said and done. Stays cool.

I agree, and keeping a "stock" radiator and fan/shroud always looks better in my opinion.

how much does it cost to have a radiator re cored I know there are no places around here that do it so I'm guessing I have to ship it as I live in the boonies upstate New York

A lot. Usually about the cost of what you're lookin at in that radiator and fan setup you posted. I say if you're not concerned with originality, go with one like you posted. It won't run hot.

I'm really not concerned about originality or I would leave my original 318 and 904 it came with in it. I do like the stock look but I am not obsessed with it definitely not enough to pay a fortune to reuse my crusty old radiator. I do kinda like the stock fan setup though if I can find a shroud that will work on an aftermarket rad that would be cool.

When you have a radiator recored, you are getting rid of everything but the top and bottom tanks. The rest is new and looks stock. If your tanks are dented, they can be repaired if not too bad.

I think ill put some feelers out and see if there is anyone local who does re coring just for giggles. My concern was I was told going from sb to rb my rad would not be sufficient.

What size radiator do you have now? If the car came with ac, ps etc, ie has a fair amount of options, it may already have the big radiator. I have a 67 Coronet that came with the 318, ac, ps and it had the big radiator.....

I do have air conditioning power steering and all that I guess I will have to measure the radiator and see

It's unfortunate that todays "throw away" world has closed up most of the mom and pop radiator shops. Used to be one in just about every town.
Depending on the size of your current rad tanks you could get it re-cored with a high effiency core with 1/2 or 3/8" tubes and a higher fin per inch count. This would allow you to re-use your old tanks and sides as stated above.

There's a guy here on the forums that is a rep for Champion rads. Contact moparstuart, maybe he'll cut you a deal and give you some good feedback.

Not a good setup IMO. With the way it is shrouded, the fans will have to run all the time, even at speed.
