What downsides to using bigger rims (17/18”)

Define "Jarring"...
My car rides no firmer than our 2015 Challenger R/T. I have 1.15" torsion bars, Bilstein shocks, a 1.25" front sway bar, HD leaf springs, a 3/4" rear bar....welded K member and frame connectors and torque boxes. It rides firm but soaks up rough roads just fine.

It was engineered and durability tested with 14" or 15" wheel-tire packages, back in the day.
If it rides like a '15 Challenger R/T, that's quite a bit firmer than originally designed for...
Keep an eye on rubber parts.

The 440 block was designed around a 375 HP rating. Many builds are running 700 HP with stock blocks.
Who restores these 100% stock and really thinks that they are on par with todays factory hot rods? Just about everyone wants an edge...bigger cam, headers, stiffer suspension, etc.
I drive less than 2000 miles per year. At this rate, the parts will rot before they wear!

I thought about going up in size on my charger simply because of the availability of 15's is getting low.

I am a traditionalist. 15” is plenty. I like the old school look.
