Pretty much any 68-69-70 B Body one would be a safe bet, just make sure the pittman arm is for your 69 GTX.

i have a complete (yet worthless) power steering system im just looking to buy a manual box until i can afford to rebuild my power gear box and buy a new pump. just figured in the short run it would be cheaper

you can't just put a manual box in place of a power steering box...the steering column is longer for a manual box car

You can buy extensions to mate your steering column to a manual box. I found them at the Moparts Connection: "Power Steering to Manual Steering Adapter Allows you to convert vehicles equipped with power steering to a manual steering box. P4510637 Manual Steering Adapter 162.95." Mancini Racing has them for $150. Not cheap. Sorry to give you the bad news...

You can also find similar adapters in vans...can't remember what years tho....seems like late 70's and into the 80's vans. Dodge dealers used to have them and for less than 50 bucks.

I ran across this a while back and if you take your column apart you will find the main shaft is a telescopic one made to collapse when hit hard enough (I have seen very few collapsed in some pretty hard hits), They used a hot nylon injected into a cross hole and it would shear upon impact (supposedly) well if you heat the nylon you will find the main shaft becomes adjustable. I went the opposite way going from manual to power and simply heated the nylon, slid the shaft up and using a hot glue gun resealed the shaft with a nylon material and it worked perfectly. I am not sure if they used the same shaft for both manual and power and just sealed it for the application length...but in this case it worked for me:yes:, rather than scrounging.

Good idea! But I think I'd feel better drilling it and sticking a roll pin in it. I agree with ya about if that system really works....a hit hard enough to make it collapse would probably kill you anyways.

any manual box will work off a 66-76 A,B,E,C body. Its just the pit man arm that is different

thanks for the info but as stated earlier i didnt realize the steering columns were diff so ill just have to bite the bullet to redo my power steer system right away
