what fuel sending unit ?

I Purchased a fuel tank from classic industry PART # FT6041A, the opening to the sending unit is on the passenger side of the tank, I purchased 2 sending units and they bind up and do not lock in place, has any one had this problem?. I called classic and they said that they do NOT carry the sending unit, I am looking for one that has one opening 5/16 for a fuel line, and a connection for fuel gage, 1973 plymouth Roadrunner smallblock , thanks

Are you sure they aren't right? They're very tight so they don't leak. I had to really work at it on my 69 charger when I changed it.
