I used the MSD on my wife's car, it comes with different lengths for different diameter balancers...has been on do about 5 months & no signs of lifting...
"what is a good balancer timing tape for factory balancer"
IMO, one that is scribed into it is best.
Some of the stick on tapes are just fine though and last. Much has to do with how carefully it's installed. Old tape that's been sitting around forever before sold and installed may last only a short while.
Anyway, on a 7-1/4" diameter balancer the marking is 1/16"=1°. Where does that come from? Page 353 of the MP Engines book.
On a stock balancer, I've used the old Direct Connection catalog balancer tape & it's lasted for 20+ years. As Daves69 mentioned, cleaning the balancer so it's free of oil is key to it sticking.
I have used both Mr. Gasket and Mopar tapes on a clean and painted balancer, both came off within 50 miles, so I gave up, marked it off and used a fine tip paint marker and just painted the marks on!
