hi guys...been lookin at tach/ dwell meters on EBAGG...and was wondering whats the purpous of a dual point dizzy? seems that it would be kinda hard to adjust these to get the dwell correct on both sets of points.:book1:

The Idea behind it was to get more dwell time for a hotter spark. Now all you need is an MSD box.

Buy an electronic ignition, it's hands down better, money better spent... Dual points is a hassle, replacing, adjusting, burnt points & condensers all the time & it's antiquated technology... Just my opinion

I used to block one set open to check dwell then repeat the procedure on the other set.

i wasnt planning on getting one....i just never knew the logical reasoning behind it. thanx guys!

yep

I used to block one set open to check dwell then repeat the procedure on the other set.

Thats how I did it too, well use to probably 25 years ago... :headbang:

funny

Yep! I used to love that Mallory dual point!

I just spit all over my computer screen laughing...... Thanks I needed that...... I think everyone from our era did....LOL..... I can't believe we never met hanging around, living in the same areas & knowing all the same people...

they were good tech for 40 plus years ago.idea was that the two points fired on right after the other, was cheeper then making super heavy points that could stay closed longer without burning up.

lowhound confirmed my thots....that they are more pain in the *** than theyre worth....thanx again all you guys!

i was just curious about them. really didnt seem to make any sence....just another cool gadget !
