What is this part?

This was in among other parts that I collected the other day from a friends place. He had a '70 Charger and a '70 Challenger, both project cars.
Is this the panel that spans in front of the core support to reinforce the grille in a 1970 Challenger?

Not a 70.... I think it's 72-4, 71 used a similar part but I think that one is 72-4..

Nope after taking a second look it's 71..

It looks like you are right. I posted this question at ForEBodiesOnly last night and 2 other guys confirmed it.

It is for a 71 Challenger, it goes above the grille assembly,and the hood release mechanism bolts to it.
