I am working on a 69 Coronet R/T and was trying to figure out how to tell if it is actually a real R/T car. I can't tell anything from the build sheet or VIN. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I guess you don't understand the VIN system very well then, because that is exactly what will tell you whether or not it is a real R/T. As will the build sheet. Below are the models available to the public.

WL = Base Coronet, ie, Deluxe
WM = Super Bee
WH = Coronet 440
WP = Coronet 500
WS = Coronet R/T

There were also

WT = Coronet Taxi
WN = Coronet Taxi, New York
WK = Coronet Police

Hope this helps you to determine what car you have.

I really don't understand the VIN system at all and have not really cared too much about it since I am a Race car chassis builder by trade but this customer wanted to make sure what his car is and we were trying to figure it and and really got nowhere. Turns out it is an R/T which will make him very happy, Thanks for the help.

Well in that case I can see why you wouldn't need to know all that stuff. At least the owner actually has the car he thought he had, and wasn't mislead by someone.

By the way, your GTX will have a similar VIN, RS instead of WS.

There's also a good deal of info on the net about decoding Mopar VIN numbers too for future reference.....but there are many here that have the info too.
