HI guys, Got a bad memory so excuse me if i asked before:black_eye:
I have a 62 plymouth Savoy and I just installed super stock springs in her, I need to know what new shocks would fit considering the springs fully extended are 26 1/4 inches and the stock ones were 23 inches.I dont want to run Rancho ajustables just something close to stock shocks?
CHEERS:)

Check out Mopar shocks made specifically for use with SS springs. Have them on my '64;I found I needed the extra shock length with the increased ride height. I know some guys have used station wagon shocks;supposedly longer.

I just put them on my '64 with my new SS springs. They're called Mopar drag shocks. So far so good, although I don't have many miles on them yet. I got them from Marsh Performance (mopartsracing.com). They had them for the best price that I could find, and they're very nice to do business with.

Go to your local auto parts store and get shocks for a ram 2500-there are a couple different ones and I don't remember the year so check the ends for proper match- they will accomplish the same thing as the Mopars and are far cheaper

I heard the Mopar SS shocks are crap?? whats your take on them??? do they leak, any problems?

Truth is;haven't had the car rolling yet,so I can't give a product evaluation just yet. First I've heard of a leak situation;anyone else encounter this?

The overall and mounted length of the shock is one issue(two?),but let us not forget the "travel"(movement) length as well. I got replacement shocks that I tried first when I installed the SS springs;even with the springs "loaded"(with car weight) the shocks(supposedly SW units) were fully extended to their limit.

Hey Fugly, thanks for the tip. If myself or anyone else have problems,we now know a good alternative.

I didn't say this and I will deny all knowledge:santa:, but they are basically the same shock-long travel and very similar valving....

I got mine for a 68 chry.s/w from NAPA and I remember it was hard to get a shock that wasn't a gas shock..I tried the gas ones and I don't think they worked as good.as the O.E.oil filled shock did....Just tring to help Artie

The reason for the ram shocks is twofold- one they are slower reacting (valving different than standard car shock and 2 (more important) they have considerably more extension. When you leave hard and the rear seperates from the body, stock length shocks will reach their limit and the tires will unhook- the longer travel eliminates that problem

 very intriguing...

Hey Fugly, would those ram shocks (or a reasonable facsimile) principle work in a 68 b-body w/ SS springs??? ...BTW if anybody asks, i didn't hear anything!! :rolling:

Yessir- for all practical purposes ( if you get Gabriel Red) they are the same shock as the Mopars at 1/5th the price- the whole point is to get the increased travel........in another life I ran a spring manufacturing plant or two and had the opportunity to visit some other plants and may have seen some shocks being made...
