Hey guys,
Just wanted ball park ideas on what would be a fair price.

Got a 68 charger r/t its got a lot of rot.

Original r/t per x29l Found the transmission stamp so it seems to be original. The Original motor was a 440 (per vin) currently has a 69 440 in it so non numbers match. Motor sounds good no somke and idles well, but needs to be gone through same for the transmission moves but needs review.

Car is all complete but rusty. Needs the floor pans done, interior rear quarters trunk possibly the a section of the rear rails should be replaced and some more so its a car with a bit of work.

Car came complete with new floors pans, new trunk pans, 2 new rear 1/4s (full), notched rear rails, new sail panels, etc.. seats are there the car is like 90 percent complete glass is good. And about 75-80% or more of the replacement sheetmetal came with the car.
(gas tank was replaced and is good).

I just want to make sure I didnt over spend, but what would a typical number be on something like this?
Thanks!!!

Best I can tell you is find a done car and back up from there. Just a high quality paint job with minor rust repair can be $10K. Another thing to consider is the final value of a car that was brought back from the dead. This car sounds like it will be mostly AMD metal and repo parts and to me that in no way compares to a clean original car that has been properly restored. Just my $.02.

X2-- a high end paint job with minimal rust repair up here is 8-10 grand.
you can get it done cheaper but you get what you pay for

Check Ebay completed listings. Something similar just ended the other day and the reserve wasn't met. It did get bid up to between 6 & 7 grand and it was #s matching w/build sheet and fender tag.
This one did not state that it came w/any replacement parts.

good point mat. he has a fair amount of dollars just in pc's already spent.

Buy a solid West Coast car. Or Southern car. Worth 3x what they are asking for rot. Good luck.

Thanks Matt, I guess I might hear what I want to for this. The project is mostly for me to do anyway as a tinker and a keeper. I just saw,

As far as this vs the one I got its no worse off. I saw a link here on the forum to repro parts as far as I can see I got approx 4 to 5 k in just those parts the motor tranny seems good so thats got to be of some value. And it complete dash/gauges interiror trim so I think I did ok on what I spent, And I would think if I just got pissed and parted it out (from what I am seeing) I would do ok, but I doubt that will happen just keep tinkering along. I did get at least the number match transmission. A broadcast sheet. And a fendertag but the tag is in rough shape. And everything seems on the right for the most part. But I guess not everyone would think a car that needs a lot of work is a worth while project. But thanks for the input everyone.

And just checked out the match numbers 1, the one I got is a bit nicer than that. So I guess its my fault for not supplying pics..

What amazes me is how a car that good got to be so bad.
