What size wheels wil fit a '67 Belvedere?

I am looking to install some American Torquethrusts on a '67 Belvedere. Can anyone tell me if a 15x7 wheel with a 3 3/4" backspace will fit on the rear with a 235 70 tire? They also make a 15x6 with the same backspace which would give me another inch of clearance on the outside.

That wheel will fit, you will likely need to jack it up from the frame ahead of the spring and let the axle drop to get the wheel on. It's a tall tire, I like a 245/60/15 better.

What tires are you planning to use? If your dead set on RWL, the options are limited with regard to available tire sizes. Here are some overall tire heights:
235/45-17 = 25.3
245/45-17 = 25.6
245/50-17 = 26.7
235/70-15 = 28
235/60-15 = 26.1
245/60-15 = 26.6
Don is right, a 28 inch tall tire/wheel can be a PIA with small wheel openings.

I use 235-70x15's with 7" torque thrust on my 65 coronet. the 65 wheel well is very similar to the 66-67; slab sided and not a lot of room. anyhow, what I have fits fine.

4" would be better but you have a good deal on wheels, ok. Ran L60 x 15 3.5" b/s rubbed on corners. Had to jack spring down to install/remove. Always carried a bottle jack, never had a flat.

The 3 3/4 back space will kill you. Although that tire isn't that wide. It should work. If you moved up to a 275/60, that back space needs to be at minimum 4 3/8. Ideal would be 4 1/2"-5"

I'm running 255/60-R15 Mickey Thompson E.T.Street s/s Drag Radials on 15"x 8"magnum 500's with a 4 1/2" back space out back. would recommend a 5" backspace if you have the clearance, the outer wheel well curves inward away from the quarter panel. I get a little rub on the drivers side rear with low speed body roll.
