So I acquired a 72 400 from a Dodge Wagon, thinking about stroking it to 500 and sticking it in the Super Bee, or maybe the 68 4 dr Coronet.

Who makes the best stroker kit, or, does anyone have a list of components they used for doing a stroker 400.

If I put it in the Super Bee, I kinda want to do a streetable, loud and obnoxious car, if I put it in the 68, it would be a total sleeper, any ideas?

Check out 440source.com. They have some of the best prices and the guys there know their big blocks.

K1 technologies reportedly has some very high quality parts.

Check out the motot MRL made for me. I have the specifics on the motor, etc.

You can buy a complete stroker kit from 440 source, or just have a 440 crankshafts main journals turned down to 400 block size, and reduce the counterweights to 7.25" diameter. Install it in the 400 block with the right pistons and rods. That's what I did, and it works great! You can use either 400 length rods, or 440 length. Mine runs mid 12s at 5500 feet. Good running motors.

If I came across a virgin 400 block, I'd consider using it over a 440 block for a 500 inch build. I like the idea of a slightly narrower and shorter engine for the Charger. It would also allow an opportunity to bypass some of the mistakes i have made with my current 440/493.

Can't say for sure but I know at least the heads from 440 source are "CHINESIUM" if it matters to you "it does to me". I built mine with the 440 crank but then again I'm on a tight budget and wouldn't hesitate to add a few cubes if the wallet allowed. Haven't actually drove it on the street yet but from what I can tell in the driveway I think it's going to be an animal haha. Good luck

I can give you specifics about my motor. I had a 470 built and dynoed at 583 HP with 610 Ft Lbs of torqure. If interested, let me know. I can scan the dyno and list of parts used.

If anyone in the lower PA is looking I have a Stock unmolested 400 and a 383 RoadRunner bottum end for sale. I know you can stoke/Bore a 400 to more CUI than a 440 easyer and for less $. Thats how I endid up with this one. But I want the 440 motor so I picked one up for my buld.
I am in Hanover PA

Low Deck Stroker all the way!

I hear ya Will. I'm happy with my build. Now, just to get the car back from the body shop to put all the parts in it

Thanks Will. Time, $$$ and patience is what its all about. I know you of all people know that. I still am in aw over your build and my friend as well. My friend has a 69 and your build has given him more motivation to get it back on the road

Appreciate the kind words rrTor-Red, thank you. Great to hear folks enjoy the RR build and it inspires others. Great stuff.
