Hello everyone! I have a question to ask ya but there is some backround to it. So I was 15 years old and was dieing to have my 1st Mopar. I was told from a friend of mine that he was told there was a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner for 1,500 obo in the town over from me. So I called the guy as fast as I could and we drove over there and bought the car from the guy. I was happy as could be! I turned 16 got my license a found out that my truck got 3 miles per gallon. So not having a job and needing a new vehicle I sadly came to the conclusion I had the sell my baby to get a new dailey driver. So I posted it on craigslist and one guy called wanting to trade for a z28 Camero and I told him no haha. He said he will just buy the car. Before that he said that he needed the VIN number. I never think it to have the possiility of it being a Satellite because I just wanted a Mopar. So I sadly found out that it actually is a Satellite... Now me not knowing what to ask for the car at all have came to you guy's. The car is a 1970 Plymouth Satellite with a 440. The hood has 383 on it at the top at the end of a little cowel. The 440 is from 69. It was rebuilt some years back and never fired it was covered and placed in a little shed deal. The transmission is a 727 that was rebuilt less than a year ago. The car is a column shift car. Being 16 I couldn't afford anything too fantastic so the car is deffently a project. And now knowing that it is a Satellite and deffently not numbers matching, I was wondering how much do you guy's think I should ask for it? I personally wouldn't care if it was a Satellite I would make it into a clone I just wanted a sweet Mopar. But I know A LOT of you guy's are pureists and would want nothing with a Satellite so it's beyond me on what to ask. I would love your guy's help! And I know this isn't the for sale section so if anyone is interested PM me please. Thank you guy's and have a great one!!

Pictures would sure help! Any rust holes in the floors, behind the back window, rear quarters, etc?

I'll get pictures in a bit. No floor pan rust. The rear windo looks a little weird. the right quarter panel has damage on it. There also is surface rust on the where the headliner would be

Sorry to here about your misfortune. Lotta folks out there without a conscience. Did you confirm the VIN yourself after you were told it was a Satellite? I could see folks trying to screw you over that way as well.

Best of luck selling it...Like greg said, pic's would help to determine a price

Something else to think about... it doesn't sound like it's too far from running, and if you're looking for a daily driver, you may have it sitting there, just restore it as you drive it. A decent running, well tuned, mild 440 can pull 17 MPG with 3.23 gears.

Yeah sure did. It is a Satellite... But I'll get my pictures up as soon as possibile.

There's pretty much two classes of Mopar buyers. You have the purists who are the number's matching, fender tag original, pull-the-build-sheet-bits-out-from-under-the-seat crowd, who wouldn't be interested in your car for much more than a parts donor. Then you have folks like you and I who are looking for a fun ride and don't care much about pedigrees. :)

Provided your car isn't a total rust bucket, with a rebuilt 440, I would start at about $3,000 for it since the engine isn't in the car.

Nothing wrong with a Satellite

I would say keep it & put it together as a Satellite or even make it a GTX Clone, they are closer in options to the Satellites, it already has the 440 & hood, have some fun with it, it doesn't have to be a 100pt concourse show car especially to have fun & putz around in... "Don't worry about what other people think", there's always people that will force their opinions on you, don't let them, just be totally honest if your trying to sell it, just disclose all the facts, there are plenty of people looking for a car to clone into a Roadrunner, GTX, Superbird or just a cool Satellite with RR or GTX touches... I think one of my favorite cars ever, was my 68 Sport Satellite 383 4spd, I purchased the car from my parents in the late 70's, that they had purchased new in 1968... Good luck with what ever you end up choosing to do with your Satellite... Unless it's a Number matching documented restored Roadrunner or GTX, it will be pretty close to the same purchase price/value, either way, in similar & options/conditions as a Satellite... In the future if your looking for a 1968-71 Roadrunner it will have either RM21--- , RM23--- , RM27--- or a 1968-71 GTX will be either of theses RS27--- , RS29--- , RS23--- , in the start of it's VIN#.....

Im sure sorry to hear of someone cheating you out of something you wanted, its a bad way to have to go... You really sound like you were happy with it though, the Mopar you wanted but just looked the part, the 70 model RR is one fine car, i cant tell you what to do but if you like this car, fix-er up, that "RM" on that vin cant stop your fun, it wont be any nicer to look at or sound differently, selling it you cant get what the real RR brings but if you like it as much as you sound like you did, id keep it. I had a few real ones and the one i have now isint, its a clone and i call it that, i never hid the fact of it to anyone because i just don't care, im in it for enjoyment, fun, to be honest i think im having more fun now with this then i did with the ones that did have that RM on it. Never let anyone dictate what your car should be, if you want to get involved with these cars to make money its different, if you love the cars for what they do to you, enjoy the heck out of them.. I wish you luck which ever way you go..

It just a number. You have a 440, and frankly whether it a Sat or a RR, it's the same body style and it's (to me anyways) is the best looking of the first generation of that model.

You don't want it, let me know. I'm not picky.

What kind of truck are driving that only gets 3 mpg?!!!
A 5 ton hay truck lol

Ya know guy's your convincing me to just keep it! So I'll get rid of my Dart! I never wanted to sell it but I wont now haha. I never really wanted to but I just needed a vehicle.

I had a 77 F-250 we have a neighbor that has A TON of Ford's and one of them had an edelbrock 4 bbl intake and carb but it's been sitting for a while but we took it off and never rebuilt it and just threw it on and it was running EXTREMELY rich and just downed the gas. The day I got my license after school, I used an entire tank.

Hmm I didn't know that. That would be nice BUT I have a really really big problem that if I have a source of power I use it haha. Sooo it could pull 17 MPG's but It probably wont for me haha. That is really cool though I didn't think that it would pull that high of MPG's

I know when I was 16, I never got that great of mpg.
Either gas was to the floor, or the brake, and sometime both at the same time haha

I some time comes down to how you drive it is what I'm getting at.

Yea, I gotta agree with the pedal down and low mileage lol. The only thing that's saved me is my advanced age, and a numbers matching factory mistake 70 GTX 440-6 with Air. I was terrified to drive that car, always afraid that someone was going to hit me or that it was going to get away from me when I turned it loose. I creeped that car around like I was Granny out sunday afternoon headed for an ice cream sundae and peeking under the steering wheel. Even with the 440-6 and 3.23, factory stall, I could get between 16-20 mpg, but seldom ever kicked the other two carbs in. When I did.... uh... you could WATCH the fuel gage drop. It's a more practical driver than most people ever imagine, if you're easy.

(Yea, that's it in the middle, talk about getting a big head when that happened :) )

(and by the way, I KNOW you couldn't get a 440-6 with air from the factory, but when you have it sitting there in front of you, and the paperwork documenting it, it's pretty hard to say it never happened. I about crapped when I realized what it really was, and because of it's value is the reason I was always afraid someone was gonna hit me or something. I let it go in '95 for $17K just so I could get something to drive and enjoy. Clone? Who cares what numbers are on your dash when you're at speed and anyone who wants to crawl on your hood at 70 mph HAS to be insane. Just enjoy that critter!)

Hey guy's sorry my computer broke. I finally got another. Kepping the Bird and I'm thinking I mihgt to a restomod. What color should I paint it. I'm thinking Viper Blue b5 blue or a graphite grey.... maybe...

Hemi Orange or Vitamin C...LOL, or any color you fell like...

Hem orange is brighter, Vitamin C has more of a brown tone to it, and a little more visible metallic. this 70 is Vitamin C, the 71 is Hemi.
