I would like to put vinel graphics made up by a sign shop to be installed on stock valve covers. Do you think they could stand the heat? sign maker doesn't know. .....................MO

get a cheep sticker from him and put it on a peice of sheet metal.stick it in the oven at 300 or so and see if it comes off or buns up.might piss off the wife, but you would know.

Good idea, valve covers may not get that hot. I wonder if the Max Wedge valve cover stickers are the same vinle?...................................MO

Vinyl starts to melt at around 180 degrees. The adhesive before that. I would spray them with a clear coat to get them to stay down. You may want to consider having the sticker made as a negative and use it to mask off the covers and spray the graphic with paint that's in the color you want the vinyl to be. You can also get the vinyl maker to separate the graphic and create several stickers to mask off for several colors. This is essentially how screen printing is done, except you spray the color instead of squeegee it through a screen.
