I'm going to go to PS on my 66 Coronet and have found someone selling the ps gear box & auto column for $100 & I have to remove it from the car.

Is that a fair price for a used setup that cannot be tested as the engine is not running.

Also, does the gear box come off fairly easy?

The price doesn't seem too terrible provided the box is any good. I guess my questions would be how long has it been sitting idle, how many miles are on the car and if you move the steering wheel do the wheels move right away or is their lots of play in the box? No point in buying one that needs a rebuild in my opinion.

I haven't taken my box off yet but they don't appear to be that bad to remove. (I could be wrong)

Thats cheap, with no engine you should have that box and column out in a 1/2 hour max.Just make sure you have a ball joint splitter for the pittman arm and a punch for the roll pin on the steering coupler.

I just found out the engine is NOT out of the car.

I think that means the starter needs to be removed 1st.

It also has headers. Don't know if that will be a problem either.

I haven't seen the car as yet. Trying to do come dealing with email 1st.

Are you manual steering? If so, I will trade you a power steering box for your manual steering box if you'd like. PM me if you're interested

Is your car column or floor shift?
