Ive got a 70 charger 500, 383 auto, buckets with console, a/c, burnt orange metallic inside/out. black vinyl top. It needs restoring, but floors are solid and have the paint still on them. original motor is gone. itll need a trunk pan. I know its hard to say without seeing it but trying to get a ballpark idea. Looking to sell to get a cuda.

I am assuming a rebuild of engine and trans is in order....That said, just stabbing in the dark here without photos, 3-5k.

A 70 Charger seems to warrant a decent price providing its in good to better shape, it wouldn't surprise me if it went as high as 8 if engine/trans was there, talking non matching numbers of course.. Just my guess...

Ive been wrong before guys so be nice lol :)

Chargers do seem to be worth their weight in gold these days. All I can say is look up past auction results.

These are selling for $8k to $11k on eBay, so figure about half that for a local sale.

68-70 chargers marketed properly bring a hefty price, running or not. a 383 auto floor console charger in itself pushes it up. All the sheet metal is available, so there is a demand, don't short yourself on it. Drivetrains seem less Important on chargers, if they can be brought back then others will want it. Take your time advertising it. Your big challenge will be finding a reasonably priced Cuda!

There's gotta be one of those "it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay" fella's floating around here somewhere...

gotta be worth a couple hundred anyways heck I'm feeling good today i'll give ya a grand for it and take my chances LOL

Ten years ago, yes. Today, no. Used to be you would drop $20k on a project, $50k on the resto, and feel safe in knowing you could sell it for $100k+. Now a restored 383/440-4 Charger is lucky to pull $30k and that's at a major auction. There have been a bunch of 70 Charger 500s on eBay because folks are unloading them.

Second generation project Chargers are bringing crazy money right now. You might be surprised what it goes for on ebay.

There have been twelve 70 Chargers on ebay over the past 90 days. Their data was:

Fully restored Panther Pink 500, 383 auto, sold for $24,900 but apparently the buyer didn't pay.
500 Project car, 383 4-spd, sold for $8,300
SE project car, 318 auto, sold for $3,750
500 Project car, 383 auto, sold for $8,400
500 Project car, triple black, 383 4-spd, sold for $7,750
500 Project car, 440 auto, sold for $8,500
Restored 500, 440 auto, sold for $22,100
500 Project car, no drivetrain, no sale at $12,800
Daytona clone project car, no drivetrain, bid to $10,600 but did not meet reserve
Restored 500 with $20k paint job, 440 auto, bid to $30,100 but did not meet reserve
Restored 500, 440 auto, sold for $20,100
Restored 500, 383 auto, bid to $10,100 but did not sell

The data on 1968 and 1969 cars are about the same. Rough, partly-unassembled, project cars are running $3k-$8k, good running projects are $8k-$12k, and restored are running $15k to $22k. Modded cars seem to be the only ones selling above $22k. There are lots of cars priced above these numbers, but these aren't selling due to reserves or no bids. Sorry, but I'm not seeing crazy money here.

Unfortunately I never tracked the dates with each price however they are listed in order of entry over time. So to get an idea on average prices over time I divided all the entries into 5 groups.....group 1 earliest recorded, then group 2, 3, 4 and 5 being most recent. This is also impacted by number of project cars for sale during any period and number of high end fully restored cars during any period....as an example when times are tough you saw alot more projects up for sale on EBAY. Anyways, not entirely scientific but gives a different view on prices over time (2005 to present). I can say that this year I have seen an increase in the values especially for 440 R/T, 500 and Base models which are more financially accessible than Hemi and 6 Pack cars which have kind of flat lined.

HEMI CARS
G1 $147,487
G2 $98,937
G3 $128,051
G4 $96,254
G5 $97,971

SIX PACK CARS
G1 $33,262
G2 $52,476
G3 $52,612
G4 $38,880
G5 $32,851

RT 440
G1 $16,764
G2 $21,832
G3 $26,637
G4 $19,054
G5 $24,337

500
G1 $8,806
G2 $10,943
G3 $13,412
G4 $12,441
G5 $13,428

BASE
G1 $6,661
G2 $9,262
G3 $12,246
G4 $10,802
G5 $12,295

The non hemi and 6 pack cars have regained all of their value compared to the 06/07 highs. Don't sell yourself short, you could easily have a $15 to $20 grand car.
More info is available on the 70chargerregistry.

I meant for what people are paying for a major project car $3k-$8k, it would make much better sense to buy one done. Its not hard to sink at least another $40k into some of these projects, and then only be able to get $25k - $30K if you wanted to sell. I have one of the project cars on ebay right now and know what it will take to restore it.
