Rebuilding a donor trans for my satellite and wondering what is this part attached in-between the trans and the speedo cable? Trans is a 71 bb 727.

I believe it is a speed sensor. I don't know what purpose it served but I have seen several old trucks, vans and RVs with those.

I was thinking a Hall Effect speedometer drive, but that would traditionally require a three-wire terminal output.

Regarding post #5, Thx to Pnora, I stumbled across this interesting read.......

Chrysler's Fuel Pacer System Was A Dazzling Half-*** Response To The Fuel Crisis

I do remember Ford trucks from ~73 with similar indicators (but on the dash) that basically told you if you were lugging, or over-revving the motor.

I think it was used with a fuel pacer light.

This got me thinking, my '75 duster had that fuel pacer light, one of the top fender mounted turn signals would glow and flicker every time I got on the highway.

So, I pulled my fsm for 1975 and started looking through the emissions control section and bingo, it sure looks a lot like the mileage counter for an egr service light!

That makes more sense. I knew I had seen them back in the day. Not all had them and that speedometer sensor was located in different locations.

I knew someone was gonna get there.... Yup, service reminder warning light.... Should had a screw to reset.....
