What's up with my vinyl top trim??

I was looking at some other pictures of '69 bees that have vinyl tops, and it looks like none of them have the vinyl top running below the rear window along the dutchman panel. It looks like there is only a single strip of chrome molding around the bottom edge of the window.

However, as you can see below, my '69 bee looks to have had a vinyl top that DID run below the rear window, and it would then have had a second strip of molding at the bottom edge of the vinyl there.

I can't find a single picture of another bee like this, nor can I find anything on the interwebs that describes a different vinyl top line along the rear window....

Am I missing something? Was there some weird option in '69 that allowed for an extension of the vinyl along the dutchman panel?

The reason you cannot find another on is that was Added on to your bee. The factory didn’t have plastic clips for the trim either.

Could be a dealer install. I ran into this with my C-body.

My Newport was born with a painted top and the dealer installed the vinyl

Yes, it was a rare factory option indeed. Especially in '69.

I believe 4-doors were like that from the factory, although the rear window is shaped differently. Maybe someone combined concepts.

Unfortunately, I don't have the fender tag for the car, so I can't even tell what the car is supposed to be.

I can't tell about the studs vs screws - in some areas they look like screws, but other places you can see where it looks like studs were ground off.

Chrysler has not used a SLOTTED Screw since the 1920s ....lol

Make that 30's my 37 desoto coupe had slotted screws in the chrome fasteners , but I have to agree with the add on

Agree with 3White74. Not a correct B-Body vinyl roof. Looks more like a vinyl roof for a C-Body

Possibly used to hide rusted window corners.....and guilty of causing them to rust more.
