Wheels and tires

Bill,do you know your back spacing on your wheels? Does your car have the original brakes on it, no upgrades?

Check the reviews on that wheel some of these steel wheels have horrible reviews. That’s why I didn’t buy reproductions.

I think they are available in a 4” backspace.

Right now the car is 100% stock with drum brakes. Thinking about doing Wilwood discs in the future.

15x7 with 4" bs should fit very well, front or rear. Do you want same size tires front and rear? How tall?
235/70x15 all the way around
225/70 front, 255/70 rear, for a staggered fit.

It currently has stock size of 195/75 14.

I don’t want to go much taller. A little wider would look better and a 15” rim should clear a disc brake.

Factory 15x7'' Mopar wheels have a backspace of 4 1/4''. Front tires were 215/75/15 and rear 275/60/15
I ran them on my 65 going for the same look as you are thinking.Ran the same on my 63 Belvedere.
So you should be ok with a 4'' back space too.

I would plan on getting them powder coated then paint them again to help prevent rust, there was a couple spots where the powder did not get all the way into the rim crevice.

Forget the brand, but out of the box the steel wheels I got were not prepped before paint and was peeling.

225/60x15 is the same height as your 195/75x14, and about 1 1/4 wider, and perfect on a 7"rim. 255 60x15 for the rear, about 1/2"taller, 2 1/4 wider than your 195 75x14.

Perfect, yes that is the look I like.
Be careful! I have a 64 Dodge Polara and the P255/70/15 Tires, 4" back space that rub with body roll (outer tire to lip approx 3/8 to 1/2 inch only). I just bought US Steel 15 x 8, 5.5" back space to move closer to rear springs for body clearance on a stock rear housing differential with drums..

Your stock 64 rearend is almost two inches wider than a 62/63, or a 65. Another member here and I checked my 255/70x15s on 15x8 ramcharger steelies. They fit great on my 62 with a 65 housing and axles, wouldn't come close to fitting on his stock axle 64. Needed AT LEAST another inch and a half b.s.
Your eights with 5.5bs should work. An extra inch bs more than the common 4.5 bs recommendation.

And remember no 2 Mopars are alike. The all had tolerance differences. My 63 had a issue on the passenger side with the 275/60/15 that was almost touching the leaf spring using the Factory 4 1/4'' back space wheel.

I believe you are correct. Thanks
