Power steering started to leak. It basically drained the entire reservoir overnight. It looks like it's leaking from the high pressure line where it connects to the actual steering box, not the reservoir. I pull it off and see this fitting. It's totally hammered. I'll replace the line as well, but if you look at the tapered part of the fitting you can see it's banged up. That to me would cause it to leak.

Where can I get a fitting like this? I've tried local parts stores, even the local speed shop. No good. Some searches on the net aren't getting exactly the same style fitting. For the record it's 1/2" 20 on both sides of the fitting.

A few questions:

Is this the correct fitting? Will something from the AN world work?

Please help. The car is parked until this BS item is replaced and it's driving me crazy not to drive because the weather is so damn good!!

I've seen them on EBay as well. Jegs will have them too if you know the size, shouldn't be a problem.
If you have a place locally that sells hydraulic equipment, they would most likely have the fitting as well.

Find a local hydraulic hose shop, you know, the hoses that are used on forklifts, machinery etc. That's where I found my fitting.

Sir,
The fitting is called a JIC (joint industry conference) 37 degree flair (top part in your pix) to a SAE straight thread connection (the bottom half of the fitting). The bottom 1/2 of the fitting should seal against the housing with a small "O" ring. A well supplied auto parts house should be able to supply the part (NAPA or maybe RockAuto or Pepboys) or maybe one of the industrial supply houses, perhaps Motion Industries.
Consider replacing the Hi pressure line from the pump as the 37 degree flair fitting may be damaged. The Hi pressure hose should be available from Year one or RockAuto. The hose configuration is different for a Federal Pump (hi pressure line connects to the front of the pump) or the Saginaw pump (hp connection on the back of the pump). The pressure in the hose is approximately 1500 PSI when the steering is turned lock to lock against the stops....high pressure leaks cause quite a mess and spray in a fine mist......if the hydraulic fluid contacts a hot exhaust manifold..... BTW..the correct fluid to use is a hydraulic oil NOT autotrans fluid.

I have those fittings with the original washer/seal and there are 2 different sizes, PM me

I made one on the lathe for my 66 Plymouth out of a 1/2-20 bolt and nut. Just need to cut a groove and chamfer to give an o-ring a place to go under the nut.

Yea I don't think my grinder and battery drill will do the job here!
