I never was a numbers guy but now have a buyer for my runner. he wants to make sure it is numbers matching. Question where on my 70 roadrunner 383 engine do I look for the vin stamping?? I heard it was above the oilpan on drivers side on a flat area???? anyone. then it has an automatic tranny I have no idea where to look...anyone??

If possible could someone post pictures of a 383 and 727 trans vin numbers so i can go look. do i have to put car on a lift??? thanks!!

p.s. stuart I still have those spare vacuum pods in a box I just have so much stuff going on its mindboggling but will get them off to you, and thanks again for posting pics. tom

Yup. It should be right where you said on the motor....assuming it's a 69 up motor. Trans will be on the passenger's side, kinda up on the bellhousing. There will be a raised area about the same size as the pad on the block

the VIN will only be on 69 transmissions.. a full one anyway. 70 and up had the year, plant, and sequence number stamped on the pass. side bellhousing.

NO.... it is on the passenger side, up front just avove the oil pan. It is difficult to see in the car and only from below. You will likely have to stick a camera up from underneath and click away until you get a picture you can read.

here is a pic.

Your car is a 1970 RR?

That V.I.N. is for a 1971 St. Louis built car with the V.I.N. ending in 148059

WOOPS!! I just realized this is not the original posters picture.
