I need a gas tank for a 68 RR.
Anyone know who offers a good tank at a good price?

Normally you can get them on Ebay for really good prices

Mopar, Good price, good quality. Good quality is pretty easy, Good price on the other hand is not. There are alot of companies that carry the tank. You have gastanks.com Manciniracing.com Paddockparts.com. and then yearone.com, They rip your guts out with the shipping. The hard part is getting all the parts to do the job right at one place.

The ones on ebay are half the price of the other places. has anyone ever gotten one? Are they useable and safe?

Yup. I've bought them from Frank Mitchell (yes, I've never had any issue with him) and have gotten a good product at a good price.

Can you PM me his ebay ID if you have it?

I bought all my gas tank supplies from Vans Auto "The affordable restoration source" in WI. They had all the stuff to complete my project and I was pleased with all of it.

I chose Vans for the exact same reason, they had everything I needed, and received good products and good service.

bought stuff @Vans their good guys.My question is how vent tubes on new tanks aren't adjustable? They are welded in don't slide in&out like original.I had to make my own rubber hose to connect to vent tube.Anyone else have this problem?Year One,Paddock,&
Van's have no idea what I'm talking about. Can't be only one with this problem??

There are basically two different style of tanks being reproduced. The ones being done by Spectra out of Canada are basically 100% correct to the OEM pieces as they are a OEM vendor. They retain the same galvanized finish and same style filler neck as the original items. The items sold through Vans are more of a generic replacement. They are a great buy, but no where near as correct for those that are looking for that aspect. They have I imagine a silver powder coat finish and most have a filler neck welded in. It is a matter of preference as for cost and correctness.

Quanta has all gas tanks for B-Bodies. I just bought one for my 80 Cordoba at 125.00 = shipping.

There are two basic manufactures of these old Mopar gas tanks, Spectra which is a Canadian made tank, They made OEM tanks, Quality is Superb, .......The other is a Chinese made tank, need I say more. Go with a Spectra.

Couldn't agree more with the Spectra comments. I'm about to replace the tank on my 67 Coronet. Fuel gauge doesn't work so needed to get to the sending unit and for under $200 bucks it makes no sense to not replace the old rusty tank while I'm there. Got a great deal on the CR14 tank on eBay. Under $110 shipped. Also bought the Spectra FG94A sending unit for around $60. I also bought the ST114 strap. They send you new seal and ring for the sending unit. I've heard though that using the old ring is wise unless for some reason you can't as the new rings just aren't as good and can result in a leak at the sending unit seal. Be sure to get a new fuel filler tube grommet for your new tank. Should be around $15. You don't want any leaks! I'm also replacing all gas tank hose and vent tubes. It just depends on how much you want to spend. That added another couple hundred to the project. Good luck!

Avoid Mopar Ed in the Central Valley.

I hope by now, over 5 years later, he got his fuel tank ............
