Do you base it on price, location, perceived quality, or maybe service? I tend to go cheap. If I have time Ill order from Rock Auto, they're usually the cheapest even with shipping. For little stuff Auto Zone is close. I think Advance may be cheaper.

In town, O Reillys or Napa. Online I have has pretty good luck with Rock Auto and performance, Summit.

1. Auto Zone 2. Oreillys 3. Advance 4. NAPA. 1. price 2. availability 3. location 4. Reward points

I mainly go to Auto Zone because there is one near my work and they have a fair rewards program. They are usually a couple bucks cheaper than my second choice as well.
I check online at all of the stores before I go to one, and I write down the part number and price, the vehicle info as well, on a post it and hand it to the counter person, instead of answering all the questions. It makes it less of a frustrating experience that way.

Ditto, exactly what I was going to type. I have accounts at all of the parts chains but Oreilly has the best commercial counter guy

O’ Reilly or Auto Zone. I will buy off the shelf items from NAPA but they stock very little anymore, practically zilch for old cars, and charge outrageous shipping to bring stuff in from warehouses.

AutoZone, O'Reilly's, Advanced Auto, NAPA and Ace Hardware. Based on availability and distance. Amazon and RockAuto. Wish there was a Jegs and Summit in town.

O'Reilly's, Advanced Auto or NAPA.
NEVER from AutoZone unless it is a "dumb part" like bulbs, wiper blades or fluids.

Online- RockAuto

Arnold Motor supply, Napa, LKQ, Summit, Jegs, Speedway.

Advance auto for stupid local stuff, sometimes NAPA but the local store has gone downhill.
Rock auto if I have the time (watch shipping charges), but lately Summit is getting better for online orders and ship fast.

I buy from them all. I feel that I lean toward Advanced Auto Parts if I need something right away or whomever has it in stock. Rock Auto most of the time. NAPA I feel has some things I can't find elsewhere. They all have some little things that are different from others, just depends on what I need. Hard to pay some of the prices of the local guys when Rock Auto is sometime 20-30% cheaper for the same exact item. Ebay for some things too, just depends on who has the best price on the same item and how fast I need it.

Wally world for oil and batteries.

I'm lucky, they're all within 30 or so minutes of me, including the Jegs warehouse. Been known to drive to Summit a few times too to avoid freight on AMD metal, they stock some of it.

Know a guy that retired from NAPA. NAPA used to carry, in my opinion, higher quality parts but, for most things, like he said before he retired, it's pretty much the same as all the other guys now.

Well, there are 4 parts stores right down the street from me, on the same boulevard, within a mile from one another.
I would start out at Pep Boys, then there's Car Quest, then Advanced Auto, and right across the street from AA, is O'Reilly's.
Depending on what mood I'm in, kinda determines what store i go in, and what I'm looking for.
Then there's a NAPA store straight down another street.
Online, it's Rock Auto.
