got a pioneer tp-900 8 track player . i want it serviced and a input pigtail for my ipod installed . anybody to recommend ? any idea on cost? saw barry's site. no others 4 google search pages in.

You can get them cheap on ebay, blank ones and record your own.

The only one I knew of was Wards and they stopped for some reason in the begining of this year....Since AM 8 track sell for $500 /600 I do not think it was cheap to fix...I saved my
8 Track Tapes but, that foam that pushed the tape on to the head to play most if not all have falled off...Even when I bought them new I always had a matchbook to shove under the tape when it seemed to not be alinged corrrectly and dragged..Looking back they sounded kind of like crap...I would think finding a 8 Track Tape that would work would be hard to find ..Good Luck Rick 70RR

look into SECRET AUDIO units. i have one in each of my cars and i love them. you can :

subscribe to SIRIUS radio
hook ipod to it
pull tunes from your computer onto a flashdrive , plug it in to the unit
AM /FM
add a 6 disc for cd's
hide the unit in the trunk or under seat
works on a small controller that uses a MIDIcable
has a remote controller
keep your stock radio
add power amps
2 or 4 speaker set up
add sub woofers
200 watts of power....50x4 or 100x2

theyre great!...look into it on EBAY ...just search " secret audio " got the basic unit for $279.00

I just think they are an awesome look for these old cars. Would love to have one in my car. I used to have a Black Sabbath 8track "Sabbotage" , during a religious spell I threw it away.... dumb dumb. But I still have Steve Miller Band and some other cool stuff. They were pretty primitive, but I like the nostalgic look.

I have 2 Automatic Radio FM-8 track players in 2 of my cars, one of which I bought back in the day when they first came out. I always thought these were one of the betters units of the day. It has a dial to adjust the head to the tape track, the usual tone controls, the long distance button for the weaker FM stations and a head phone jack, and I thought it has one of the better designs of the radios that were out in the day. It doesn't play tapes all that well now, but the FM works fine, and I hear many comments like, "that car has an 8-track, I remember those!!!"

that's the one . bud had one in his nova in the early 70's.

I think Royal radio in Michigan does.... We took the foam from some new blank 8 tracks and put them on old ones where the foam was shot...worked fine.

I have the perfect 8 track repair tool......

Dug my out today and it is an 8-track too. Was thinking it was the cassette. My brother had the 8-track in his car back in the day.3

got it back!

got it back . screams put in some merle hagard!IMG_1790.jpg

Good bump, I was wondering the same thing. My Lincoln Mark IV has one and it works, but sound quality is poor. I’m gonna try speaker’s first and if that doesn’t help then I was going to try to get the player cleaned up.
