The jag fan clutch just isn't cutting it in stop and go traffic on the 440.

Short of trying the repro one Tony's parts has who here runs a fixed fan? Opinions?

I still use a stock fixed 7 blade on my 440, with a two core rad. It hasn't overheated.

Fixed blade, shroud,3 core aluminum radiator. 180° stat. stays @ 165°-190° in Texas summer.

The clutch fan is designed to work at low rpms and if not cooling in traffic...AND was before....I'd get a new clutch for it...fixed fans draw air and work all the time...clutch fans are for people who "think" they need less drag on their motor at highway speeds...I have one on my car now and it works great on my 440 but I wouldn't hesitate to go to a fixed...50/50 as far as I'm concerned either way

I run a $20 fixed plastic fan and shroud have no trouble with heat in stop and go traffic

Sounds like to me that you have a radiator problem. When's the last time you gave it a thorough flushing? As asked, you runnin a shroud?

As above: Fixed Mopar 18" 7 blade fan, spaced 1" from an aluminum radiator with an aluminum shroud. Mancini aluminum water pump housing and pump, 180* thermostat, 50/50 mix antifreeze with a bottle of Redline Water Wetter, mostly for its corrosion protection. It's been 105* and it runs at 180-190 in and out of traffic.

I have just about the same setup minus the aluminum bits...all of mine are stock iron with a 3-core MoPar rad and shroud.

In 95* weather in bumper-to-freakin-bumper Chicago traffic and it barely cracked 195* a couple of times. Above 5 mph, it would go back down to around 180.

Ma knew. Copper, shroud, thermal. 180 in the shittiest (Harry Reid) traffic in the USA. Reno. I carry a laser temp gun so I can admire the numbers. 197 at the thermostat housing after hitting every light in Nevada.

The rad isn't the issue with the car. Brand new wizard rad with the larger tubes and with a shroud. 180 deg t-stat 50/50 antifreeze mix new water pump etc etc.

Car cools great on the highway -hence not a rad issue- Fan just can't move enough air and once it starts getting hot unless I can get moving at 35mph and up it gets hotter then I like. Most I've seen before I got moving was 205 which is hotter then I'd like.

Because of the large tube rad the stock fan clutch is a no go so I am stuck with the Jag based unit which is new but it never really seems to roar even when hot with the big 7 blade fan.

For those that run a 7 blade fixed fan how is it finding the correct spacers?

Drop your antifreeze mix and add more water. Then add a bottle of water wetter.
I just creep past 190 in stop and go traffic.

3 core rad, 7 blade fixed fan/w shroud. 1969 Super Bee fully restored with factory rebuilt 383.

I have a 440 and run The 7" with a shroud. I had the radiator triple cored from stock. Also just replaced the water pump and the fan clutch. Replaced all the hoses and she runs like a baby "monster" that is.......

I am using a small block 2 core radiator 180* thermostat , shroud , fixed 7 blade , fan is about 1 1/2" away from the radiator and my 440 has never seen 200*

Check other issues it doesn't sound like a clutch.

So it only gets hot when idling and not driving but you don't think it's an airflow issue? I don't follow.

Can't find the edit button. I had a stop and go traffic problem on two occasions. 5000 feet with a sea level tune. started another thread on clutch fans, what I get for bragging.
