In the garage. Under the hood. Again.
Since I'm mobile and am registered for the Frankenmuth show this weekend,I was wondering what other characters from here were planning on attending? There's always some NICE Mopars there, especially '62-'65 "B"'s. I'm off Friday(YEAH!) but I am at the top of the overtime sheet,so that means I'll get asked to work Saturday(BOO!-Oh,wait;that's what pays for the car!),and possibly Sunday. Great timing...

So,if anyone from here is going, shoot me a PM and perhaps we can coordinate some get=together. Nothing like a line of ol' B-bodies rolling in together to make folk's jaws drop,eh?

Here's some pics from the 2008 show:

Just got done washing the car, after pulling an all-nighter replacing the starter, relay, alternator and regulator and cleaning and polishing the interior chrome-this was after work, the paying job. Heading out later to get my packet of goodies and shoot the **** with people I haven't seen in a while. Gonna come home and catch a few zzzzz's and head back out there when the gf gets home from work. Barring accident or alien abduction,I'll be there tomorrow as well.

I'll look for you guys-wait,I don't know what you look like;guess I'll have to write down what cars you've got listed in your sigs and go from there.

Well,I went out there this afternoon and there were some incredible Mopars everywhere! Of course,in following with my luck lately;the camera battery died. The gf and I are heading back;I'm having charging issues still, but am determined to conquer!

...And,I'll get camera batteries;there's some serious car **** there. This site might not have enough bandwidth to hold it all!

The saga continues...

Laura(my fiery redhead) and I headed back out to F'muth yesterday after she got home from work. We were about halfway there, and the voltmeter started dropping-again! SHITSHITSHIT!!! Turned around, and just got her home. Charged the battery-again-and started it up. Pulled the positive cable and voila,it died. Called my auto parts store this morning(Gawd, they love to hear my voice-it means a sale),and they got me another alternator. Oh well, stuff happens;it's my kind of luck to get a bum reman- piece. Let's hope this one works;we plan on hitting Frankenmuth tomorrow.

Oh,I did get camera batteries,so I'm ready there...car **** tomorrow night!

Al, I see so much of the bad alternator issues here that I cant sit by and watch people just change them out for rebuilds. Next time I find an old Mopar, externally regulated, bad alternator, I will diagnose it and find what is really going on. Windings seldom short-out. I'm guessing its usually the rectifiers. If I come up with any info, and an easy test procedure, I will pass it on to all.

Thanks;I'll be watching. We made it through the day without any issues. The voltmeter read 12 all day,no hard starts, and a great day. We got out there later than expected(like noon) due to some other things to do,but we made it. A bunch of fine Mopars, and hell,I'll say it;there were a LOT of nice "other" brands. Pics, you say? Where's da pics? Well, there's another thread for those...
