Took the fender tag off and filled the holes with bondo...

WTF does one gain by doing this? Anybody with any brains knows how to tell what the car is anyway....... :edgy:

This car is basically spotless, (rust-wise).

Who cares if it was a 318 or a /6 car????

Sorry, rant off.

Mine doesnt have one either. I think it has new fenders on it, holes are there, but no tag.

That's a big piss off to me too, .......but I usually remove them and keep them with the title, broadcast sheet and other vehicle documentation for security purposes, .......these are too easy to remove.

holes for my Charger's tag are filled... It was a 318 cat with an auto and I am doing it my way - so I really don't care and doubt anyone who buys it will care... I do still have the tag though

That's the key right there, you HAVE the tag. So the next guy gets it.

I don't care that it's not on the fender, just wish I had it. Makes for no confusion when selling.

You still have the tag tho. That's the point. I don't care that it's not on the fender, just wish I had it for clarification. No questions when selling either.

i have the tag for my car but someone stole the one off my dads RR, People are reterds sometimes

I removed mine for restoration and it will be returned to its rightful place with SS rivets. I know its not true to restoration standards, but I want it to stay.

Right now I keep it with all the other documentation I could find on the car (not the VIN, never touch or remove the VIN!!).

Wish mine was missing but I have one and it's the wrong one.

Good idea!! Too many sticky fingered SOB's out there.

Had someone steal the convertible top boot for my Coronet two years ago at a car show. Would love to find the chump and beat him with it.

There is a tag thief out there.I have a 73 U code charger and ...you guessed it no fender tag!Really sucks too it was a loaded car...power windows AC the works. My 70 sport satellite that is now a Superbird tribute had no tag...And I have yet to find a build sheet in any of my mopars.

since were talking tags does anyone know if any place will make a repop vin tag? i bought this builder no motor/trans does have title and fender tag and title does match car body however vin has been removed from dash it dont need to be exact i just want something that looks legal god for bid i ever get pulled over and they decide to look at vin

well i do have the title and i was able to register the car last summer (with out the dmv knowing of the missing tag) so my plates are legit however even though i have never had a cop look at my vin any time ive been pulled over (numerous times) i was just looking for something i could use just in case but i do understand why it would be illegal to make "copies" i just figured i'd ask

Washington used to require a VIN inspection by the State Patrol for all cars brought in from another state, but that went away several budget cuts ago. I had to have 2 of my Chargers inspected when I moved here back in 1988, and they had to verify the VIN in 2 locations. 1 of my cars was missing the tag from the door jamb, so I had to make an appointment to bring it back when they had time to put it in their shop and locate the VIN in another location (which they apparently didn't want me to see, since they wouldn't let me go with the car to the shop.)

For the car with the missing VIN tag, out here the State Patrol would want to inspect the car and verify the VIN (and that it's not stolen.) Then they would put a tag in the location of your old VIN tag that lets officers know that the VIN has been relocated or replaced with a new number issued by the State Patrol. I've seen about a half dozen of them over the years.
