Why, oh why ruin this 63 Polara!

Saw this in a body shop parking lot. Super nice body. Thought maybe somebody built a hot sleeper. I popped the hood - the six pack scoop was a sham, the motor was a Poly 318 2bbl. I called the number on the sign and the owner said it was just brought up from the Carolinas, and ran great. He added that he always liked the six pack hood scoops and put it on himself. Now he is selling it. OK, how many brain cells did he kill thinking that bonding a six pack scoop on a 318 four door and painting the hood black would actually be a good thing to do?

Because 85% (conservative number) of all people are either idiots or ********.

Some are both.

Because, as I have been told, four door cars are not cool and have no "value" so no one cares. But If you put a scoop on it make it functional at least. Other wise it's a waste of time....

But I think mine is priceless...... :DMAGE:

Yep, if it had a hole under the scoop feeding a Max Wedge, maybe. Tiny two-barrel? No way!

He should've just left it like it was and put the six pack scoop on something that would be able to make good use of it.

Maybe save the money from the scoop and paint and get a nice set of wheels for it. That would help the look of the car more than what he did.

hey it was his car & he wanted a Six Pack hood on it... not my cup of tea, especially on a 4 door... I too like the 6bbl scoops, but I wouldn't have done that... but there are all types out there, to each their own, no-one will tell me, "what I can or can't", put on my car, well they could, but it will fall on deft ears or I will just say FO&DAH...

My first car was a 4 door with the poly teen and I did some things to it that probably raised some eyebrows lol but it was mine to do what I wanted....and it did finally get a 383 stuck into it which made it a lot more fun!

4-doors have an all-business vibe about em that makes em cool. Just like pickup trucks, they tend to look best when devoid of shiny bits, chrome geegaws, scoops, spoilers, stickers, or graphics.
Yeah, the scoop looks dopey...you just can't reason with some people.
Post another pic when the 14" Cragar SSs and press-on rear spoiler go on.

The car isn't really 'ruined'. The hood can be fixed.

You though maybe someone had built a sleeper. Well, mash the throttle, and it will put you to sleep. Done. :)

That ain't nothin'. Today I passed a late model chevy 1/2 ton pickup with a 6 pack scoop riveted on. As soon as I saw it I thought of this thread. We were going in opposite directions or I would have taken a picture.

Personally I think it looks good on there. He liked the scoop and he liked the car so he put the two together. There's nothing wrong with that. I did the same thing to a 71 Newport back in the day. It was a 318 2bbl car but it was a 2 door. The scoop looked really good on that car.

Get that six pack hood off my Polara!

Damn kids.

I'm thinking cop car replica when I see this car. I don't care about the scoop, that can be fixed. I like seeing old patrol cars, either original or replica. I don't like seeing newer cop cars, especially in my mirror.

Maybe like this one?

How much is he selling it? It'll be a really nice sleeper with my 426 street wedge in it.

On the phone he said $6,500, but quickly started in on stored about how he got stuff at half of asking price. I bet $3k to $3,500 would take it. If you are interested, PM me and I'll get the phone number.
