Posting here so all can see.
So I was working at the top of the Audio/Video Home Theater business, at least for someone in the Gulf south, from 1990 up until 2009 when I switched vocation. California, New York, Miami, Colorado, and other areas of the USA that the median income is KMA wealthy more often than not, well-there were people who got their hands on high end, complex and expensive systems more often than I did. My point is I was highly advanced and experienced, and I am an "enthusiast" so I try to stay knowledgeable with all the most significant developments that come along.
The biggest challenge I have had in the last few years was how to reliably get high resolution audio signals, "CD" quality or better, from my music streaming services, mainly Apple Music and TIDAL, from the app into my circa 2004 STR-DA9000ES Sony ES receiver, 2015 Oppo BDP105D SACD/Blu-Ray player processor, Klipsch KLF-30 Legend series tower speakers and Definitive Technology TRINITY SuperCube subwoofer that outputs subsonic waves to 12Hz up to about 40Hz...
Buying a used Chromecast Audio only "dongle" was the first step and a good one, but the doors to high performance audio from streaming music services really flew open and Audio Nirvana awaited once I discovered and bought my WiiM Pro streaming hub. It allows me to set the maximum bit rate and frequency for high resolution audio signals derived from my streaming services, and that is useful because if I go too high my subwoofer output shuts off and I like using it for 2.1 stereo playback. 24 bit/48kHz is the max rate for 2.1 playback before the sub line out shuts off, but the receiver can handle up to 24 bit/192kHz and most of the streaming music via TIDAL is available at that rate.
Anyway...
I will cut this post short so hopefully my point won't get lost. WiiM is a company that offers their products at very reasonable prices AND outstanding performance AND actively supports improvements via free automatic updates as they develop. While the WiiM Pro streaming hub is the ideal product for my needs, the WiiM product that prompted me to post this is the WiiM Amp Pro. This unit has a 60 watts per channel (8 ohm) built-in amp with a Sub line out and all of the signal processing and streaming capabilities of the WiiM Pro hub.
With only a pair of Klipsch Heresy (for example) speakers, a good subwoofer, and the WiiM Pro Amp you could have a simple and compact but absolutely mind blowing music system. With the subwoofer in a rear corner of a room, I guarantee that anyone who saw a pair of Heresy speakers and this little amp/streamer put out the quality and volume of sound it would crank out would be astonished that performance like that was possible.
If any of you want to take your music apps and listen on your home audio equipment, the WiiM Mini or WiiM Pro streaming hub is a great choice, but if you are starting from nothing and want a STELLAR 2.1 stereo playback system, I suggest grabbing a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers, the Heresy being the largest and most retro style made, a killer sub, and the WiiM Amp and just blow your mind along with anyone you invite to share the experience with!
