how much difference is the from the 71/72 lower front 1/4 to the rocker to a 73/74 road runner ? i know the upper is way different but i need to replace mine about a foot up from the bottom of the car from the rocker / door to the lip of the wheel well

thanks RANDY

Doubt it. From what I've heard, but not measured, the 73-4 wheel openings are supposed to be longer than the 71-2's. If the wheel opening contour can be saved, then the metal between that and the door jamb should be a simple repair. Simple for smarter people than I, but still simple.

The shape of the wheel opening is different as well, and there is a ridge running along the bottom of the panel that isn't on the later body style. It's a little frustrating trying to find panels for these cars, you can get stuff for the earlier ones, but chrysler managed to change essentially every panel in a pretty major way without making the car look all that different.

Is it damaged or rotted or both? If it is solid but damaged I would just fix it.I love your car by the way...

here is what im dealing with . there was a ton of bondo in the lower 1/4 and rocker ill be cleaning putty dust in the garage for the next 10 years at on place on the 1/4 there had to be at least 1/2" of build up .

You know, I've seen your car a few years back at one of the car cruises in Beaver, Pa. I actually have pictures I took of it when I saw it. I'm not 100% certain, but I may have had mine on the road at the time I saw yours. If I did, it was the primer black 4spd '74 w/ the stripes painted on. I don't know if you remember me, I talked to you for a while about your car when I saw it. I see you are now diving into some projects on it, good to see.

I pretty much gave up hope on finding quarters for mine, looks like yours are in slightly better shape than the ones in my car, I think my bondo runs a smidge deeper. I'm just keeping my eyes open, and will probably end up salvaging some full quarters off of a car from out west. Pretty much anything can be better than what PA did to these cars when they were new.

I would just section a piece of sheet metal in. Do you have a mig ? and can you do bodywork ? If not, take it to a good bodyshop.
