Spacers are trial and error for the combo. You might put that in one engine and see 15hp, then you might stick it on something else and not see a thing. Unfortunately there's no way to know for sure until you try it. I've seen a $20 dollar spacer out perform a Wilson, but I've also seen it the other way. Sometimes no spacer is better. There's only one way to know

68 HEMI GTS is absolutely correct. I have that spacer on my 67 but w/only 8 passes I havent had an opportunity to compare it to any of the others I have yet.
On my last combo it liked no spacer, the one before that responded to a 2" open best. Lots of trial and error.

I have the 2" WILSON CNC Tapered 4 hole SPACER (for $219.10, lol).
After the first 3 runs with my new 505" I had gone a best of [email protected].
The ONLY thing I did for the next run was to install my new 2" WILSON spacer. That run was [email protected].
Now...I still have additional Jetting/Timing/Tire Pressure/Launch RPM tuning to do in an effort to improve on the 10.989...but...it will all be with the WILSON Spacer.
The above was all performed with my old INDY Dual Plane Intake and my 850 Mighty Demon.
I will still use the Wilson Spacer on future Test&Tune Runs but it will bolted to my new Victor 440 Single Plane still with the 850 Mighty Demon.
After all of that Test&Tuning then I will pull the 850 Demon and Wilson and replace those 2 parts with my 4150 to 4500 Adapter and my new Dominator to see what happens.

Sounds Good Gentlemen ! Ill give it a Shot !!

I also have tried the $20.00 spacers and noticed the deference as soon as i hit the accelerator so spending almost $150.00 is a big jump...But well worth it if it Does the Job !!

Like I reported above....I went from 11.045 to 10.989 WITH NO OTHER CHANGES from run to run.
That, if you can't do the math (lol), is .056 seconds which is more than 1/2 10th.

I am a believer.

When I called Wilson in preparation to buy the spacer (from Summit) they recommended the 2" over their 1" for my 4150 carb setup.

Cool Mike ! I too am Now running a 4150 so maybe 2" is the way to go ill call Wilson as well !! :VB toast:

If you do buy one and it has no benefit just laugh and think of me...I bought two of them for my tunnel ram lol.

There's a few companies that make them,
if you budget minded find a cheaper priced brand...

If it make 12 more hp, hell that's only 12 per/hp, that's cheap, as far as hp/per/$ spent...LOL

Well know reputable company, it should make more power,
like others have said it depends on the combo,
I've never seen a drop in power using a spacer.... that's just me

I know nothing about carb spacers. I've seen spacers referred to as "tuning aids" while treading lightly on HP claims or not at all. I went to Wilson's website looking for dyno numbers but couldn't find any and they claim "up to 30+ bolt on horsepower".
My question is, is there real horsepower to be gained by using a spacer? Has anybody here ever done dyno tests with spacers? It's a given that the combo will make a difference but being a bit of a skeptic, 30+ horsepower is a lot of gain.

Shorthorse....I didnt DYNO my Wilson 2" CNC tapered spacer...I just put in on my motor WITH NO OTHER CHANGES and went from 11.045 to 10.989....that's .056 seconds.
And...the runs were within 30 minutes of each other.

Manufacturers design manifolds with the plenum on the small side as its easier to add a spacer than to cut down the manifold. Plus they have more hood clearance.

Well every combo is different. "Back in the day" with my ported 906 & 915 heads I did not see "much difference" by adding 1" or 2" spacers to my TM7 or TM6 850 DP combos on my 446" 440 or 452" low deck. Cam, heads, carb & headers are all a combo that need to be sorted out. My 2 cents.

The Wilson CNC Tapered Spacer is not JUST a spacer. Look at the pix at the start of this thread.
I don't have any stock in the Wilson Company...all I know is that it worked for me...by .056 better ET in back to back run.
Having said that....if you buy one....I sure hope it works for you...or I will be trashed....lol.
Thanks

Mike I sure don't dispute your results. We all need to try things & find out if they work.

I just removed my 2 inch open spacer and picked up 4 10ths, from 12.96 to 12.51 no other changes. I put the spacer on back when I had the Purple shaft 296 557, It picked up 3 10ths then. But now I'm running way less duration with a comp cams custom solid roller, for better streetability.

Again, RT K_line report he removed the 2" OPEN spacer and pick up et's.
We were talking about the Wilson 4 Hole CNC Tapered Spacer and/or the HVH 4 hole CNC Tapered Spacer.

I really dont know if the motor reacts to an OPEN spacer the same way it reacts to a CNC 4 Hole TAPERED spacer.
