Wiper arm????

Why do you suppose when I install my wiper arms on the drive spindles,seat them all the way down so the holder clip will seat in the slot.The blades are 11/2” off the windshield???? I even tried another set of arms SAME!!!! The arms are all ‘71 and one set is NOS. Sure do not want to bend or alter anything till I get some thoughts. Any one else had this problem on a ‘71 RR?

There is a little lever that allows you an easier means of removing and installing them. Once installed tip the wiper back and push the lever in. see pic.

SO when I deploy the lever the arm will lower the blade to the windshield???

The lever holds the arm up for removal. Push it in and the spring will take over so it hugs the windshield.

What it should look like normally.
